What Keepsake Have You Had The Longest?

This doggie is my oldest possession.  My Aunt Margie made it for me out of what appears to be a feed sack.  I'm not sure if it was made before or after my birth, but I did have it by the time I started cutting teeth.  It's poor tail got the worst of it, followed by the nose and front feet.  It also appears to have been gutted at some point.  Oh by the way, I'm 58.

Eventually, I will attend a quilt guild meeting!  First, the meeting was moved to another church, then I couldn't get it together in time to go to the next one, and this week I get to the church and no one is there.  The church secretary said they cancelled because there was going to be a funeral there that afternoon.  Who should walk in but the lady that was reading the sign on the door the first week.  Her Internet must still be down.  The church secretary took my name and number just incase there's a funeral next Tuesday.  She said to not give up on the guild because they were a really good group.

Next week is Show and Tell, if they stay on schedule.  This week was to have been a class on making pillow cases.  Bubba is a little bulky to take to class, so I'm glad I was just going to meet, greet and observe.  Guess I'll have to think about getting a light weight for classes...any suggestions?

Ok, back to watching the Olympics fulltime.

My Little Feathered Friends

Another collection that I have is of carved wooden birds. Whenever I was out and about I would keep my eye out for them. They've gotten harder for me to find over the years for some reason. There's an endless supply of resin or plastic birds and wooden birds that have been painted, but they're not for me.

Hopefully, now that I'm in the hills, I'll find some folk art whittlers that do little birdies!

Over the years they have suffered some hardships which required a tail or two to be glued back on and some of their little beaks aren't as pointy as
they use to be...but I still love them all!

Next I'll post pictures of my closet...I love containers too!!!!

More of Peppermint Patty and Friends

Patty and Friends have a home.
It's a good thing I have a lot of wall space because I have a lot of treasures to put up. Next to go up will be my oriental plates on metal bamboo racks.
Yesterday when I was in our Walmart, I tried to find some doggy material to make Reggie a bed for the quilt room. No luck....will have to check the LQS.

Peppermint Patty and Friends

I've been trying to remember how long I've had Patty...36 years sounds about right. If my memory serves me correctly, it was a give from my sorority pledge daughter. All of the Oz figures belong to Sweetie (W of O is one of his favz) and he thought my room would be the best place for them...I think so too. I should be able to post a picture (it's all about lighting) of them in their mounted rack tomorrow.

If things fall into place this morning, I'm going to attend my first Coosawattee River Resort Garden Club meeting. The next social outing on the list is the local quilt guild at the Methodist Church in Ellijay. Then there is the lunch and sew held periodically at The Quilt Shop On The Square. That reminds me, I have to change my email address with them!
