My Winners At The Fair

I'm really pleased...I've never won a ribbon before...squeal!!!

Ok...full disclosure here...I didn't have any competition. I had only taken it along to show the ladies because I had talked about it at the last meeting and the Division that it fit in didn't have any entrants.

We're heading out camping now...won't have internet (I thinks) for 5 days.

Quilted Shawl Is Finished - Ready For Show & Tell

Now I have two things to bring to the next guild show & tell. I'm really pleased with the binding...will have to find some more of that fabric. Also, I'm happy that I have more of the top fabric...think I'll use it to back the runner made from the Thanksgiving place mats.

Another Waterford Santa...this one has been unfinished for years...I did paint a little on it after we moved down here, but was stymied as to the last little details. Maybe I'll just get some more gold and silver paint...silver sleeves and gold gloves followed with a gloss finish. Should I antique it first?

I've thought about putting more detail into his robe...??

Donation Quilt Done

I finally got around to putting the binding on this donation quilt...needed something to take to our next guild show and tell. This is the one that I made my first ever stencil for. I may have the quilted shawl done by then...what with our weather delays around here.

Love the stripes for the binding...this is my best joining seam. Hhhmmmm...I think I should have trimmed up the quilt a little more to eliminate floating stitch line.

This is the worst joining seam....but it was at the very end where you're twisting the binding around trying to join them together. Should have cleaned up those frayed threads before I took a picture.

Christmas Hostess Gift

Friday we had some of our friends over for cards. As usually when we gather, everyone brings their beverage of choice (usually wine) and a food contribution. Appetizer/finger food was to be served, so I baked a brie in dough and wrapped cocktail wienies in the extra dough and baked them up.

Saturday evening we went to friends house for dinner and cards. I baked a creamy pear pie...a big hit!

I needed a hostess gift and didn't feel like running into town to shop for one, so I headed up to my quilt room after the pie was in the oven. I don't have a big stash and have just recently added a few pieces of Christmas fabric.

Fortunately, I have quite a bit of Insul-Bright left from when I made a heat proof table pad, so I double layered the Insul-Bright, adjusted the tension, quilted it, and put the binding on with time to spare.

The hot pad was unwrapped and went directly on the table to replace a folded green tea towel!

Lemonade Pillow Is Done

I think it turned out pretty darn cute IMOHO!

Yesterday afternoon, we put up rods and drapes in the master bedroom and questroom in preparation for company. After a couple hours of steaming wrinkles, I'm pleased with how they look.

Yesterday, I also made order in the quilt room. Now I won't be embarrassed by my mess, although my daughter probably wouldn't have noticed the mess. She's a messy kind of girl.

I finally finshed some things!!!

The table runner is finished...actually it's the first quilty thing that I've completely finished (an A.D.D. newbie) and I think it turned out very well!

This is the front....

...here's the back that I pieced from a scrap pack that I purchased....

...and here's what the quilting looks like. I used a stencil and pounce and an air erase marking pen. The high contrast squares were a doozy, requiring both the pounce and marking pen to do.

This was made from some scrap wood from the game room. I printed out an image of a pine tree, taped it to the wood and took the Dremel to it. Then some black paint was bushed on the image and wiped off. Then I took the orbital sander to it and then the belt sander. It received four coats of sealant (with sanding in between coats) and a coat of wax.

No It's Not A Potholder

It's really the first Mini Quilt (really it's the first quilt completed - period)that I have completed. I was testing the Fun N Done templates that I had purchased and used some fund raiser fat quarters that I had in my tiny stash.

Last Tuesday was to have been my first guild experience, but it wasn't to be. When I got to the church, there was a lady reading a sign on the meeting room door. I asked if she was there for the guild and she was. She said they occasionally hold the meetings at other churches in town and that her Internet was down so she didn't get notification. The kind lady said that next week would be a better time to start with the guild because it would be the business meeting where they will plan for the following month. So next week it is!

Tonight, Sweetie and I are going to a Potluck dinner sponsored by the Good Neighbor Club. It's a group for property owners to meet once a month and get to know each other. Each month they rotate what each couple or person bring (desert, main dish, salad, hot vegetable) by alpha groups. I'm bringing a pasta salad.
